GROUP 4: Shelves + Book Arrangement + Lighting

I am so excited to run this project with my friends as we'll be enhancing and decorating the mini library for Anak Orang Asli in Serendah Selangor! During the first class for briefing this project, I thought that we'll be doing some charity in business but it didn't look like that because we'll be doing something bigger than that! I am super excited to help these kids place!

Phase 1: Planning + Budget

Our group has been incharged for lighting and books arrangement so to make the plan smooth, we have divided the tasks among us. We all have 8 persons in total to do this task. I've been incharged to do survey in lighting types such as pendant light, table lamp, and ceiling fan as well.

So today, I went to survey the lighting! I checked and recorded the price and also the quality as well. I asked for quotation as well.

The range of price for lighting starts from RM39 - RM79. For ceiling fan, it is stated that the price is RM140.

30/4/2019 UPDATE:

On 26 April 2019, our group presentation was held. My group members presented everything that we have discussed and we got feedback from the lecturers.

So what feedback that we got is:

1- We need to go survey again for the lighting. Lecturers said that the price is expensive. And also the price for ceiling fan is too cheap.

2- We need to revise again for coding systems

3- We have to find more reference books for UPSR, PT3 and SPM students. Not just story books.

Overall, we need to come out with new proposal. We need to meet Ms. Norji again.

29/5/2019 (2PM-4PM) UPDATE:

Me and Mira went to Sunway Pyramid to find coding stickers. We stopped at Daiso to find the stickers and ans went into Ace Hardware to find the white wiring.
As it was in fasting month, we walked faster to get it done early. We found the stickers and updated in the group about our finding whether it is the right coding stickers or not.

We found it!

We also looked for book stands but here in Daiso is more pricy than the one in MR DIY. So we didn't buy this one.

We stopped at Ace Hardware to find the wiring and updated MS Norji through whatsapp whether we should buy this one or not. Ms said the length of the wire will not be enough if we buy here. So we didn't buy.

31/5/2019 12PM-2PM UPDATED:

As I was waited for Ms Norji, I helped to paste the sellotape on the coding that have been pasted on the books by Sweetie and Umaira a day before.
Ms Norji came and the meeting started. There were me, Mira and Sula meeting with Ms Norji.

1/6/2019 9AM-4.30PM UPDATED:

PHASE 1 = CLEANING SITE

Me and the other 4 members of my group went to Serendah, Selangor, our actual site to execute the task accordingly. We started our day at 9AM at Taylor's as we carpooled together with other teams as well. We reached at 10AM something and started working. I saw so many black ants when i was trying to pull out the old books from the old racks. Oh my goodness, I couldn't do this I said to myself. Haha! I told Ms Norji and she asked us to wear glove to cover our hands. And someone bought mosquitoes' spray. Thank God!
We had our break at 1pm-2pm but heyyyyy we all were fasting. Only one of us were not fasting because she's Chinese. We took our break in a car with aircond of course! Haha.
We removed old books, old bookshelves and of course sent it all to the landfill. Its near to our place actually but heyyy we got Hilux to help us hehe. Thanks to the driver, I forgot his same btw.
We finally went back home at 4.30PM, earlier than the others because we all were fasting. I drove for them because everyone was tired as hell. We reached at Taylor's at 5.30PM. We bought our food using money from Ms Norji hehe. Each of us received RM10.

This pic was taken at 8.30AM by me because I reached Taylor's earlier than anyone else that day.

Me and my group members were removing all the old books and old bookshelves.

Me and my group members were lifting and putting all the used books and carpet and bookshelves on the car. It was fun when I really worked with the right group members because everyone was giving their best to settle the works.

Okay one selfie with the group members!

2nd with ms Norji on site!

3/6/2019 12PM-4PM UPDATED:

It was 2 days before Hari Raya celebration me and Mira went out to find all the remaining items that should be bought. We went to Malware (M) Sdn. Bhd (hardware shop) as been mentioned by Ms Norji. We also stopped at IOI Mall Puchong to find the plug sockets. Our last stop was at Giant Bandar Kinrara to find the bulbs.

We found the wire

Mira was busy calling Ms Norji to inform her we were buying the wiring. We also bought wire connectors.

A video of us while we were waiting for the worker to cut the wiring.

We stopped at Ace Hardware in IOI Mall Puchong looking for plug sockets as they need it for 21 units.

 Tadaaaaa we bought it.

Okay just a short video of me and mira hehe.

Our last stop, Giant Bandar Kinrara, looking for the bulbs. Pic above shown the cashier were testing all the bulbs whether it functions or not.

Tadaaaaaaaaa we done buying the bulbs!

Our last mission was to send all the items been bought to Yayasan Salam at Petaling Jaya. On our way to there, Ms Norji called us and told that Yayasan already closed as they only worked for half day because they all were going back to their hometown for Hari Raya celebration.
Ms Norji asked us to pass all the items to another group members for them to send all the items to Yayasan Salam after Hari Raya holiday.

Even though me and Mira were struggling and rushing looked for the items on our last 2 days Ramadhan, we both felt very happy to settle our task right before Hari Raya. I am here to say thank you to all of my group members who were REALLY did their part and those who were with me, helping me when I really needed someone to help me on the spot. I am not the group leader but I felt like one because there were times when I had to instruct people to do their job asap because we were running out of time. I know there still some of my group members who didn't contribute as much as the others, but I am saying thank you anyway for having me in your group and made me learn a lot.
